Evans Sizzles -- Smokes Aces for 5 Hits Wednesday, July 4th , 2001 5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but New Orleans's Dwight Evans made it happen against the Aces. Everything came together at the plate for the 23-year-old right fielder as he collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats -- and helped the Pelicans triumph, 21-4, at Cashman Field. "I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Evans said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em." Dwight Evans hit a solo-shot off Mike Krukow in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Luis Mendoza in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Nelson in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Currently Evans is batting .267 with 15 home runs and 38 RBIs. |
