Big 3-HR Day for Hannifin
Thursday, July 12th , 2001
Jack Hannifin brutalized the Atlanta X Giants pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 16-7 Las Vegas victory at Ponce de Leon Park. The Las Vegas Aces first baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day.
"I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one."
For the game, he went 3-for-4 with 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Too much Jack Hannifin today," X Giants manager Ricky Bischoff said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to."
Jack Hannifin hit a two-run home run off Fred Fussell in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Fred Fussell in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, struck out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Clem Labine in the 8th.
This season, Hannifin is hitting at a .268 pace with 36 home runs, 76 RBIs and has scored 59 times.
