Aven Joins 3-HR Club
Tuesday, July 17th , 2001
Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Brewers-Aces game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball.
Milwaukee left fielder Bruce Aven thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Milwaukee to a win, 18-6, over Las Vegas.
"Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Aven said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run."
Aven was 3-for-4 on the day with 4 RBI.
Bruce Aven hit a solo-shot off Luke Walker in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jose Contreras in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th and hit a two-run home run off Hal Griggs in the 6th.
To date, Aven has collected 20 hits for a .222 average. He has posted 5 home runs, scored 17 runs and driven in 12 runs.
