Hannifin Booms 4 HR Against Milwaukee
Wednesday, July 18th , 2001
It was a fairy-tale day for Jack Hannifin -- right up until the end.
The Las Vegas Aces first baseman had an almost-unbelievable 4 home runs at Cashman Field, but his fairy-tale ending was snatched away by the Milwaukee Brewers, who grabbed the win, 11-9.
"I'm paid to hit 'em, and I hit 'em real good today, but not good enough to win the game," Hannifin said to BNN reporters after his historic game. "The loss tarnishes it a bit and takes away some from the day. Give it to the Brewers, they hung in and stayed with us the whole time."
On his big day, the first baseman for the Aces had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
"Jack probably earned himself a few days without hearing any criticism from me," Las Vegas manager Joe Boyd told reporters later. "The rest of the guys, not so much."
Jack Hannifin hit a two-run home run off Bob Bruce in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Art Nehf in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Art Nehf in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Dave S Smith in the 9th.
So far this year, Hannifin is batting .275 with 42 home runs and 83 RBIs.
