One Run Enough for Buffalo
Monday, July 23rd , 2001
Claude Passeau bent a little, but he didn't break against the Cincinnati Tigers. The Buffalo Bison pitcher hurled a 7-hit, 1-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 2 walks and tallying 4 strikeouts.
"Claude is good at getting out of jams," Bison manager Ryan Martines told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
So far this year, Passeau has made 13 starts, tossed 97.2 innings, struck out 76 batters and walked 20. His record is 5-7 with a 5.44 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .262 batting average.
