Un-four-gettable: Kang Hits for Cycle
Monday, July 23rd , 2001
Some days, a great game just isn't enough.
Jung Ho Kang of the Norfolk Tides found that out the hard way. Kang had a great day at the plate, pounding out 4 hits in 6 at-bats and hitting for the cycle, but watched the San Jose Bees win the game, 15-13.
"It is a frustrating feeling to know you did so much and still lost," the 29-year-old first baseman said later. "But it is a feeling you have to get used to if you want to play baseball for very long. It just happens."
Kang had 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run, as well as 5 RBI and 1 run scored in the contest.
Jung Ho Kang singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jim Buchanan in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, hit a two-run triple in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
This year, Kang has hit at a .296 clip with 85 RBIs, 35 home runs and 65 runs scored.
