Gentile Powers 3 HR Against Norfolk
Friday, July 27th , 2001
It was a good day for the Queens Kings and an exceptional one for Jim Gentile. The 31-year-old first baseman sent three bombs out of the park to help the Kings beat the Norfolk Tides, 11-7, at Shea Stadium.
"When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Gentile said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day."
For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 4 runs and smacked 3 hits in 4 at-bats.
Jim Gentile hit a two-run home run off Pete Alexander in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jack Kralick in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jack Kralick in the 7th and walked in the 8th.
This season, Gentile is batting .308 with 99 hits and 38 home runs. He has scored 68 times and has 88 runs batted in.
