Un-four-gettable: Waner Hits for Cycle
Tuesday, July 31st , 2001
The Louisville Redbirds wasted a big day at the plate by right fielder Paul Waner in their 13-10 loss to the Norfolk Tides. Waner hit for the cycle, stroking 4 hits off the Norfolk pitching staff in a losing effort.
"I actually didn't feel particularly great out there today," Waner said in the clubhouse following the loss. "It was kind of random chance that the balls found some gaps, and here we are."
For the day, he finished 4-for-5, had 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.
Paul Waner grounded out in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jack Kralick in the 4th, tripled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Thus far this year, Waner has hit .301 with 14 home runs and 52 RBIs.
