One Run Enough for Columbus
Monday, August 13th , 2001
It wasn't easy but Joaquín Andújar made it look that way.
Andújar silenced the St. Louis Blues, 1-0, in a Columbus Blue Birds triumph at Weeghman Park. Despite the appearance of dominance, Andújar said that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 4 walks and 3 hits.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."
This year, Andújar has posted a 8-6 mark in 16 starts and has a 5.68 ERA.
