Hoiles Belts 3 HRs Sunday, August 19th , 2001 Orlando catcher Chris Hoiles led the Rays to a triumph, 10-4, over the Atlanta X Giants, crushing three home runs. "He's scary good when he's swinging the bat like that," said Orlando skipper Brian Jagoda. Indeed, Hoiles put up some "scary good" numbers: three homers, 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 3 runs and 8 RBIs. "I'm just thinkin' about winning ballgames," Hoiles said. "When you think about home runs, you very seldom get 'em." Chris Hoiles hit a GRAND SLAM off Warren Spahn in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Clem Labine in the 4th, struck out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Carlos Diaz in the 8th. Hoiles is swinging at a .218 pace on the year with 29 home runs, 68 RBIs and 54 runs scored. He has played in 96 games. |
