Carey Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Senators
Tuesday, August 28th , 2001
The "hardest feat in sports" debate is a never-ending one with no correct answer, but hitting three home runs is certainly in the conversation. That's exactly what Max Carey did at Nationals Park, going deep three times and carrying his team to victory, 8-0.
"It all came together. I was seeing the ball well and I got some good pitches to hit," Carey said. "Good things happen, when that happens."
The Louisville Redbirds center fielder blistered the Washington Senators for 3 hits, batted in 4 runs and scored 4 times.
"It ain't like we weren't trying," Washington manager Jason Schmidt said. "He was hot and really torched my boys today."
Max Carey was hit by a pitch in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jackie Brown in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jackie Brown in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Jay Howell in the 9th.
So far this year, Carey has hit .253 with 11 home runs, 55 RBIs and 63 runs scored.
