Redbirds Move on to Round 2 Tuesday, September 11th , 2001 The Louisville Redbirds triumphed 2-1 over the Toronto Maple Leafs at SkyDome in the Round 1 to capture it 4-1. The victory advanced the Redbirds to the Round 2. For his superb play in the series, Redbirds center fielder Max Carey garnered the series MVP trophy, hitting .474, scoring 6 runs and batting in 3. "Only thing better than getting MVP for winning in the playoffs would be winning MVP for winning in the Round 3," Carey said later. "I'll get to work on that." The Louisville Redbirds don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Orlando Rays - San Jose Bees series. Orlando leads the series 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
