Friday, September 14th , 2001
Orlando Rays won a nail-biting series against the San Jose Bees 4-3, wrapping up the Round 1 finale 5-3 at Candlestick Park.
Rays left fielder Tony González was named the series MVP.
He batted .522, drove in 4 runs and scored 5 to lead Orlando into the next round of play.
"Tony was real solid for us, real solid," said Rays manager Brian Jagoda. "I normally say I'd like to have nine of him out there, but thankfully we got by with just one this time."
The Orlando Rays will play against the Louisville Redbirds in the next round. Louisville won their series against the Toronto Maple Leafs 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes..
