Menefee Razor-Sharp, Shuts Out Orlando Monday, October 1st , 2001 It wasn't easy but the St. Louis Blues made it look that way. Starter Jock Menefee shut out the Orlando Rays despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the St. Louis Blues cruised to victory, 3-0. Menefee allowed only 5 hits and rang up 8 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up." Thus far this season, Menefee has worked 55.1 innings with 54 strikeouts en route to a 5-2 record and a 2.44 ERA. |
