St. Louis Crowned Champions Wednesday, October 3rd , 2001 It was a hard-fought battle for both teams to make it this far. But as the saying goes, "to the victors go the spoils." For the victorious St. Louis Blues, that meant the WBL Triple A Round 3 trophy. The Blues took a 4-3 victory over the Orlando Rays at Tropicana Field, winning their 1st championship after taking the series 4-2. "We've got grit," said Blues right fielder Steve Evans, who was named MVP of the series. "We know how to win when we have to." The new titleholders completed the regular season with a second-place finish in the WBL AAA AAA-Midwest and a 69-63 record. |
