WBL Triple A Names #1 Player
Thursday, October 18th , 2001
At the age of 26, Jack Hannifin of the Las Vegas Aces could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2001 was good enough to win the first baseman the WBL Triple A Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .274 batting average this year, as well as a .339 on-base percentage. He played 116 games and racked up 122 hits, 14 doubles, 2 triples, 63 home runs, 126 RBIs and 104 runs scored.
He received 16 first place votes out of a possible 20. Jim Gentile of the Queens Kings finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Jung Ho Kang of the Norfolk Tides finished third.
