Pelicans End Lewis Streak Saturday, April 20th , 2002 Fred M Lewis's 21-game hitting streak has now come and gone. It was snapped today as the Hartford Dark Blues suffered a setback against the New Orleans Pelicans, 8-3. Lewis went without a hit in 1 trips to the plate. He was visibly upset during a postgame press conference, but it appeared that the streak had little to do with it. "The hitting streak was one of those things where it was fun while it lasted, but I'm not going to lose any sleep about it tonight," he said. "On the other hand, I am going to lose sleep about dropping this game today." This season, Lewis has banged out 17 hits in 44 at-bats for a .386 average with no home runs. He is getting on base at a .449 pace and his totals also include 4 RBIs and 8 runs scored. |
