Pelicans Heading to Round 2 Saturday, September 2nd , 2000 The sweet swing of Dwight Evans has led his team through the Round 1. The New Orleans Pelicans star earned series MVP honors as his club downed the San Jose Bees to advance to the Round 2. The Pelicans won the final game at Muni Stadium by a score of 10-3 and the series 4-1. "I'm seeing the ball well and happy to contribute to a win," said Evans. "I hope it continues for the rest of the playoffs." For the series, Evans hit .368 with a .478 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 5 runs. The New Orleans Pelicans don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Hartford Dark Blues - Montréal Expos series. Hartford leads the series 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
