Round 2 Goes the Distance, Queens Prevails
Wednesday, September 13th , 2000
The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat were on full display tonight at Ponce de Leon Park as the Round 2 stretched to the final game.

It was the Queens Kings feeling the thrill of victory, with a 4-3 win over the Atlanta X Giants, who were feeling the devastation of coming up short in their quest to make the Round 3.

"There's no way around it -- this sucks," said Atlanta manager Ricky Bischoff. "Congratulations to Queens, but I won't sugarcoat it, no one is happy about anything that transpired here tonight."

Instrumental in the 4-3 series win was first baseman Eric Karros, who was named MVP. He hit .500 with a .556 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 3 runs.

"We've got the most important stat of all and that's this final win -- that's the one that matters," he said.

The Queens Kings don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Hartford Dark Blues - New Orleans Pelicans series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The Round 3 schedule will be announced after the Round 2 finishes.
