Grizzlies Win Round 1
Wednesday, August 23rd , 2000
The Fresno Grizzlies clubhouse was filled with glee and celebration tonight, while the Dallas Longhorns room was filled with despair and sadness after the Round 1 concluded.
"Someone's got to win and someone's got to lose, we're just glad we're on the good end of it tonight and can enjoy this," said Bubba Morton, who was named MVP for a strong series of offensive performance.
Fresno won the final game by a 4-1 count at Chuckchansi Park and the series 4-2.
Dallas manager Harry Armor was simple and to-the-point in his assessment of the series.
"They were the better team and deserve to move on," he said.
For the series, Morton hit .381 with a .462 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Fresno Grizzlies will play against the Salt Lake City Trappers in the next round. Salt Lake City won their series against the Denver Bears 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
