A Day for the Record Books: Bream Hits 4 HR
Thursday, June 29th , 2000
Shreveport Swamp Dragons first baseman Sid Bream totally decimated the Long Beach White Sox today, finishing with 4 home runs in a 13-1 Shreveport win.
The White Sox had no answer for Bream, who finished the day 5-for-5 with 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
"What can I say? My guys could've shot the ball out of a rifle and he'd probably hit them out anyway," said Long Beach skipper Shane Polanco. "There's nothing you can do when a guy gets in that kind of zone, you just hope he cools down some before you have to face him again."
When asked about his record performance, Bream responded, "After the first two I just tried to do everything the same way and it worked."
Sid Bream hit a solo-shot off Curt Davis in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Curt Davis in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Bill Dinneen in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Bill Dinneen in the 8th.
This year Bream is hitting .315, produced 38 RBIs and 15 home runs, scored 27 times and gotten on base at a .394 rate.
