Demons Cardwell Strikes out 18 Grasshoppers Sunday, August 13th , 2000 Don Cardwell of the Des Moines Demons put on a pitching clinic today at Sec Taylor Stadium as he struck out 18 Greensboro Grasshoppers in a 2-0 victory. Cardwell was simply magnificent as he held the Grasshoppers to 3 hits. He walked 1. "I felt okay at the beginning," Cardwell said, "but eventually my fastball really started working. I also have to thank my catcher for calling a great game." When asked about Cardwell's performance, Demons manager Mark Hoffstatter shook his head and said, "Yeah, he was good out there today. He was dominating." This season Cardwell has gone 3-1 with an ERA of 3.86, posting 61 strikeouts in 37.1 innings. View Boxscore View Game Log |
