Great Day for Merrifield -- 5 Hits Monday, August 14th , 2000 Tucson Sidewinders second baseman Whit Merrifield went ballistic today with the bat. He hammered the Honolulu Islanders for 5 hits and drove Tucson to a 19-5 win over Honolulu at Honolulu Stadium. Whit Merrifield singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Will Smith in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
