Diamond Dogs Young Has 15 Ks Thursday, August 17th , 2000 Everything was working for Irv Young today at Lawrence-Dumont. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The fastball was working. In an unforgettable performance, the 31-year-old Young fanned 15 Witches and sparked the Albany Diamond Dogs to a 3-0 victory over Wichita. He left Witches hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. "I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Albany manager Alex Lopez. "His location and command were really something." In addition to collecting 15 strikeouts over 8 innings, Young allowed 2 hits and no walks in a superlative outing. "I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Young said with a smile.
