5-for-7 Game for Hamilton
Monday, August 28th , 2000
Jeff Hamilton knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At The Dudley Dome today, he made his case to be considered among that group.
The 25-year-old closer hammered 5 hits in 7 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Tucson Sidewinders fell, 8-6, to the El Paso Sun Kings.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Sun Kings manager Will Croskey told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Hamilton wasn't the difference."
Jeff Hamilton singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, singled in the 11th and struck out in the 12th.
