Leary Spins No-Hitter
Tuesday, September 5th , 2000
Excitement reigned at Sam Lynn Ballpark today as Bakersfield Blaze hurler Tim Leary tossed a baseball rarity -- a no-hitter.
After defeating the Chattanooga Rats, 2-0, he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments.
"I'm just glad to be here," Leary said. "Today I just went right at the Rats as hard as I could, as long as I could."
Leary chalked up 6 strikeouts and allowed 3 walks in his superb performance.
"I don't think they could have stopped him with a howitzer today," said Bakersfield manager Manny Tamez.
So far this year Leary has 5 wins and 9 losses and a 4.55 ERA.
