Hafner Swings for the Cycle
Sunday, September 10th , 2000
Requiring speed, power and regular contact, the cycle is often seen as a test of a complete hitter. For Travis Hafner, consider that test passed.

The 30-year-old first baseman hit for the cycle at The Dudley Dome today to lead the Mobile Bay Bears to a 6-3 win over the El Paso Sun Kings. All told, Hafner delivered 4 hits in 5 at-bats with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored.

"It feels good of course, but I'm not going to kid anyone -- there's a lot of luck in hitting for the cycle," he said after the game. "Several unique things have to come together all in the same game."

Travis Hafner hit an RBI triple in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off James Baldwin in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Currently Hafner is batting .239 with 24 home runs and 65 RBIs.
