Chicago Slaps 6-2 Loss on Baltimore
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Baltimore Black Sox home opener. Ned Garvin started for the home team against Ed Walsh for the Chicago American Giants. The Black Sox were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 6-2, Chicago. Ned Garvin, though, was impressive. Reliever Jamie Moyer picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Ned Garvin took the loss.
Chicago took advantage of an error in the top of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 1-1, when Kevin Mitchell hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put the American Giants in front, 3-1.
"Enjoyed this one," Mitchell told the Chicago Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
