Bertoia Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
Players get multi-hit games all the time, but 5-hit games are something else entirely. It happened today when Reno Bertoia of Corpus Christi Hooks scattered 5 hits all over The Jazz Palace against the Armstrong's Secret Nine. The second baseman was subdued in the postgame interview, however, saying Corpus Christi's 6-4 loss robbed his big day of its luster.

"It was a good day for me, but not a good day for us," he said. "The bottom line in sports is to win and we couldn't do that today."

Reno Bertoia singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Scott Sanderson in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

This season Bertoia is swinging the bat at a .333 rate with 32 hits in 96 at-bats. To date he has hit 5 home runs, scored 13 runs and driven in 12.
