Hooks Improve to 35-16 with 6-3 Win
|
Starting pitcher Erv Palica pitched well enough to help the Corpus Christi Hooks beat the Kenosha Comets, 6-3. Palica, now 3-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 11, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. Dick Hyde was credited with the save for Corpus Christi, his 9th of the season.
With no one out in the top of the sixth, Starling Marte had a chance to do some damage. Kenosha was trailing 5-2, but had runners on 1st and 3rd. Marte came to the plate against Erv Palica, and grounded out, driving in 1 run. But it was not enough to complete a Kenosha comeback.
Corpus Christi is rocking and rolling at 35-16.
