Spiders Slip Past Black Yankees, 8-5
|
The Cleveland Spiders topped the New York Black Yankees, 8-5, at League Park. Cleveland shortstop Arky Vaughan was a spark plug for the offense. He was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Terry Adams notched his 18th save in 21 chances. New York's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Vaughan delivered big-time for Cleveland, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Aroldis Chapman. The game-changing hit put the Spiders on top, 6-5.
"We took home the win," said Vaughan. "What's not to like?"
