Roanoke Ballpark was the site of a tense game between the Corpus Christi Hooks and Roanoke Magicians.

In a low-scoring clash between Roanoke and Corpus Christi, pitcher Fred Blanding was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 win. Roanoke reliever Bill Simas picked up the win, upping his record to 5-1. Rick Honeycutt absorbed the loss. Dustin Hermanson recorded the save, making him 5 for 6.

In the bottom of the eighth inning of a 2-2 tie, Roanoke left fielder Eric Tipton hit a run-scoring single. It broke the deadlock and put Roanoke on top, 3-2.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Roanoke manager Rob Stech.

With the victory, the Magicians upped their record to 44-32.
