Hooks Earn 9-8 Win Versus Traveling All Stars
|
Bingo Long's designated hitter Sammy White had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. White was 5 for 5 with a home run and 4 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3, even as Corpus Christi beat the Traveling All Stars, 9-8. Corpus Christi reliever Dick Hyde picked up the win, raising his record to 4-3. Mike MacDougal was tagged with the loss. The Traveling All Stars, now 24-56, have lost 4 straight.
When he came to bat in the bottom of the ninth, Corey Hart had a chance to end it. Bingo Long's pitcher Mike MacDougal had other ideas. But with no outs, Hart hit a run-scoring double. The Hooks had the win.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Hart.
