|
Despite a fine performance by third baseman George Kell, the Havana Sugar Kings lost to the Kenosha Comets, 7-4. Kell went 2-2 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Harry Kelley snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 2-0 on the season. Dave Rucker was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 9 save opportunities.
In the top of the eighth, Val Pascucci delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Kenosha right fielder hit a 3-run home run, putting the Comets in front, 7-4.
"It was a good win," Pascucci told the Kenosha Observer. "Enough to get the monkey off our back? I don't know."
The win puts Kenosha at 31-48.
