The Biloxi Shuckers stopped the Lynchburg Hillcats, 7-6, at Caillavet Park. The Shuckers got a big game from Chico Walker, who went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Bob Gillespie converted his 9th save in 10 tries. The win for the Shuckers lifted their record to 40-40.

The Shuckers got a clutch hit from Dick C Schofield with two out in the bottom of the eighth inning. Schofield jumped on a 0-2 fastball from Bob Katz and hit a 2-run home run, staking his club to a 7-6 lead.

"We'll take this win and move on," said Schofield.
