The Corpus Christi Hooks tallied a win at Whataburger Field, throttling the Galveston Black Pirates, 8-1. Starting pitcher Erv Palica was a big reason for his team's success. Palica went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 5-4. With the win, Corpus Christi raised its record to 58-27.

Johnny Temple had a big solo home run for the Hooks in the bottom of the third inning. With Corpus Christi leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a curveball from Tyler Glasnow and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hooks ahead, 2-0.
