Biloxi Shuckers starter Glen Hobbie was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Roanoke Magicians, 4-3. The winning pitcher was Hobbie, now 10-7. He tossed 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. The 4th-place Shuckers have won 6 in a row.
Had Gus Dundon not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Dundon hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Shuckers.
"It's not about individual awards," Dundon told a Biloxi Gazette reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
