Sea Lions Lose to Sea Dogs, 5-2
|
The Portland Sea Dogs picked up a win at Oracle Park, dropping the San Francisco Sea Lions, 5-2. Walter Johnson, who is tied for 3rd in the AL in innings pitched with 152.1, was the difference-maker. The winning pitcher was Johnson, now 10-8. He tossed 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 5. Trevor Hoffman notched his 11th save in 14 chances.
The Sea Dogs got a big at-bat from catcher Cliff Lee. For the game, Lee went 1 for 4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Portland a 2-0 lead.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Portland manager Daniel Makonnen.
Their 47-58 record puts the Sea Dogs last in the American League Cumberland Posey Division.
