American Giants Take Down Spiders, 8-7
|
A good performance from catcher Carlton Fisk helped the Chicago American Giants defeat the Cleveland Spiders, 8-7. Fisk went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the American Giants. Akinori Otsuka was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 6 save opportunities. Chicago is now 48-58, Cleveland 57-46.
The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Fisk delivered big-time for Chicago, stroking a dramatic solo home run off Ron Reed. The game-changing hit put the American Giants on top, 8-7.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Fisk told the Chicago Times.
