Mounties Slip Past ABCs, 5-3
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Ottawa Mounties and Indianapolis ABCs.
Indianapolis second baseman Joe Morgan had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Morgan went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 times, even as Ottawa beat the ABCs, 5-3. Ottawa pitcher Clark Griffith got the win. He's now 1-5. Rob Murphy was tagged with the loss.
Ottawa took advantage of an error in the top of the ninth inning. The game was tied, 3-3, when Tim Raines hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Mounties in front, 4-3.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Raines told the Ottawa Gazette.
The Mounties raised their record to 52-53.
