Black Yankees Lose to Black Sox in Walk-Off
|
The Baltimore Black Sox faced a tough opponent in New York pitcher Red Ruffing, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Camden Yards by a final score of 3-2. Ruffing went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run. The win went to Sean Marshall in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Sparky Lyle took the loss. The Black Sox improved to 47-61.
The decisive blow was delivered by Bryce Harper in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Goose Gossage to win the game for Baltimore. The home crowd went nuts.
"The crowd was raucous," said Harper.
