With Late Score, Sea Lions Beat Cuban Giants
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Baker Bowl.

Miami third baseman Andy Pafko was sensational. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. San Francisco beat the Cuban Giants, 9-8. Huston Street, 4-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Mickey Cochrane came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Miami pitcher Sandy Consuegra, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting San Francisco on top, 6-5.

In postgame remarks, Cochrane said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."

The American League Cumberland Posey Division-leading Sea Lions have a record of 70-38.
