The Portland Sea Dogs beat the Memphis Red Sox, 10-6, at Griffith Stadium. Portland shortstop Jim Fregosi had an outstanding performance. He went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The 'W' lifts Portland's record to 48-60.

Harry Hooper had a key at-bat with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Portland. With the bases loaded and the Sea Dogs leading 7-6, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
