Wolverines Lose to Cuban Giants, 4-1
|
Rube Waddell never let Detroit get something going. The Miami left-hander commanded his curveball in pitching the Cuban Giants to a 4-1 win. Ed Bauta was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 3 save opportunities. Miami has a 3-game win streak, while Detroit has lost 3 in a row.
The Cuban Giants got a big at-bat from first baseman Will Clark. For the game, Clark was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 19th home run of the season gave Miami a 3-0 lead.
"We did a lot of things right," said Waddell.
