Jackrabbits Solve Blackbirds, 5-4
|
Kokomo Jackrabbits starter Jeff D Robinson pitched effectively against the Erie Blackbirds at Kokomo Municipal Stadium. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 5-4 win. Robinson picked up the win for Kokomo, going 5.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 5-3. Kokomo is now 25-27, while Erie is 29-23.
Charlie Spikes had a big 3-run home run for the Jackrabbits in the bottom of the third inning. With Kokomo leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a curveball from Pretzels Getzien and swatted a home run to left. It was his 36th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Jackrabbits ahead, 4-0.
"I was hoping to make good contact," said Spikes. "I wasn't trying to knock the snot out of it."
