Kirkpatrick Goes Off, But Chinooks Win
The Chugiak-Eagle River-Mineola matchup turned into a real hit parade.

The Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks weathered a fine game by Mineola left fielder Ed Kirkpatrick to upend the Black Spiders, 12-10, at Loretta French Park. Kirkpatrick was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Chugiak-Eagle River reliever Albie Lopez got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Rex Brothers was tagged with the loss. John Gaddy was called on to finish, recording his 12th save.

Chugiak-Eagle River took a 12-10 lead on Candy LaChance's 16th home run of the season. The grand slam home run came off Mineola pitcher Rex Brothers in the bottom of the seventh.

"Swingers' gonna swing," said LaChance, after the high-scoring affair.

The slumping Black Spiders have lost 6 straight.
