Blackbirds Stymie Bozeman, Take 5-1 Win
|
Behind an impressive start by Carl Doyle, Erie beat Bozeman, 5-1. Getting the save was Joe Thatcher, his 8th. The Blackbirds bumped their record to 40-32 with this latest triumph.
The Blackbirds got an important contribution from center fielder Ned Hanlon, who in the bottom of the fifth knocked a full count fastball into right-center for a solo home run. It was his 20th home run of the season and put the Blackbirds ahead, 2-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Erie manager Justin Spiegel.
