Mustang Field was the site of an exciting ballgame between the D.C. Potomacs and Penn Yan Mustangs.
D.C. beat Penn Yan at Mustang Field, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to second baseman Horace Clarke. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Chad Reineke picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-0. Jesse Tannehill was tagged with the loss. Bob W Smith earned the save, his 10th in 11 tries.
The Potomacs got an important contribution from center fielder Bill D Wilson, who in the top of the fifth punched a 1-1 curveball into left for a solo home run. It was his 48th home run of the season and put the Potomacs ahead, 6-1.
"I still think this team can play even better," Clarke told the D.C. Daily News.
D.C. improves to 46-33 with the win. They lead their division by 2 games.
