Jerry Uht Park was the site of a competitive game between the Erie Blackbirds and Mineola Black Spiders.

The Mineola Black Spiders stopped the Erie Blackbirds, 5-3, behind an impressive performance from Gary Roenicke. The 31-year old first baseman made life miserable for Erie pitching. He went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Claude Raymond, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings.

Roenicke had a game-changing double in the top of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from George Winter, he banged a run-scoring double to left, giving the Black Spiders a 4-3 lead. It was the 14th double of the year for Roenicke.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Erie manager Justin Spiegel. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."

The win has Mineola at 29-51.
