Philadelphia rode a fine outing from starter Rick Mahler to victory over the London Werewolves at Recreation Park. The final score was 6-1. With the win, the Pythians hiked their record to 42-37.

In the bottom of the first, Joe Gerhardt hit a 2-run home run. The 10th home run of the season for the Philadelphia second baseman put the Pythians on top, 2-0.

"I thought we played a nice game," Gerhardt told the Philadelphia Herald. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
